Bismillah Khan’s memorial to be set up at Rishikesh

NEW DELHI, August 21: Miles away from the home town of Shehnai maestro late Ustad Bismillah Khan, a Bismillah Khan memorial will be constructed at Rishikesh, the gateway to Himalayas in the Tehri-Garhwal district where Lord Vishnu vanquished the demon Madhu.

Several villagers of Tehri-Garhwal have expressed to donate lands to “Andolan Ek Pustak Se” to construct the memorial in the name of Ustad Bismillah Khan - the Icon of communal harmony and peace - and school for the orphans and children belonging to socially and economically weaker section of the society, says Neena Jha and Shivnath Jha.

“Our purpose is to maintain late Bismillah Khan’s Ganga-Jamuna tradition and promote his secular philosophy,” claimed Bismillah:The Beginning Foundation, a trust, set-up during the life time of the Ustad to protect musicians, academicians, artists and others who have brought pride and laurels to the Independent India. It would be a grate tribute to the Ustad.

And, so much so that in the long statement of Tatya Tope there was no mention, direct or implied, of Man Singh having betrayed him, nor were there any condemnatory remarks about him.”

On the basis of the declaration which Tatya Tope’s nephew, Narayan Rao Tope, father of Vinayak Rao Tope of Bithoor, the blog has raised doubts that the person hanged was some other man and not Tatya Tope. These doubts have also found certain historically accepted circumstances.
